Speculations

If the EFL was in the postseason

You realize, don’t you, that the MLB postseason is a pathetic shadow of reality?  With the EFL, the postseason would look like this:

American League:

Haviland Dragons (101 – 61)                    v.  Wildcard Winner

Old Detroit Wolverines  (100 – 60)       v.  Pittsburgh Alleghenys (95 – 66)

Wild Card:  Texas (95 – 47)  v.  Cleveland (94-67)

National League:

Chicago Cubs (103 – 59)                      v.   Wildcard Winner

Portland Rosebuds  (96-66)       v.   Washington Nationals  (95 – 57)

Wild Card:  Los Angeles Dodgers  (91 – 71)   v.   Canberra Kangaroos (90 – 72)

Half our league would occupy half the spaces in the postseason.  No doubt the Kangaroos would have pulled off the upset of the Dodgers and would be preparing to face  the Cubs on Friday.  Meanwhile the Dragons are preparing for Texas or Cleveland, and the Rosebuds for the Nationals.

And tomorrow’s headliner would feature the titanic meeting of the Wolverines and their oldest nemeses, the Alleghenys.  Bumgarner against whatever bum the A’s could garner.

Now wouldn’t THAT be fun?

Let’s see — of the EFL’s postseason teams, I believe the only ones which have had players appear so far are the Kangaroos the Wolverines. Kangaroo stud Chris Davis went 0 for 3 with a walk, bowing out already along with Wolverines Manny Machado (1 for 4) and JJ Hardy (0 for 4) .  However, the two Wolverine pitchers (Bumgarner and Liriano) have completed 10.7 scoreless innings between them, and have recorded two wins in two games.  That’s already a little bit of fun… just think what it could be.
