Some sportswriter recently compared the Seattle Mariners’ record this year to bungee jumping. I assume that it means they go up and down a lot! You could say the same about the Cheese.

Cottage management has never been bungee jumping, but maybe we should try it, since that’s what our baseball players are all doing. In a recent post I declared the Cheese to be “back” and immediately they fell into yet another slump (which fact was gleefully pounced on by our ever-alert regular columnist). I was glad that he took a few days off, since I didn’t really want to read anything about our Saturday performance (a team OPS under .400? Really?). Then yesterday we bounced up again (above 1.000 as a team). We even got a little good pitching, which we hadn’t seen for a while.

I don’t get it – is there some sort of memo that goes around each night, so they all coordinate their performances? Do your teams do this too, or is just some sort of weird Cheese thing?

  • That photo atop this post gives me the heebeejeebies. Doesn’t that guy understand that when you jump outward with a bungee cord attached to you, there are only two possible outcomes? The cord either snaps you back against the rocks, or it breaks. Neither of them is a good outcome.

I think this has something to do with the Cheese.
