Sue remembers this photo (she took it), and supplied details for this story. It’s a good thing, because nobody else remembers it!
In the early 1990s Mom and Dad went on a camping trip to the redwoods (in Northern California), and Sue and Ken and their kids went with them. For some reason they also took Jeff. Sue thinks it was because he was so good with the kids, and she remembers how much more fun the trip was with Jeff along to help out.
This explains why Karen, Jennifer and I are not in the photo, and can’t remember the trip!
The outstanding feature of this photo is, of course, Jeff’s pink pants. Perhaps the fact that he’s wearing pink shorts is what caused him to yell at the photographer.

That summer both Jeff and I were sent to visit our aunts and uncles in Oregon and Arizona. I remember turning 13 while staying with Peggy & Kevin during a monsoon! She gave me sewing lessons, I sewed myself a jumper that had been hearts all over it. Neon was very in style that year, that’s why Jeff is wearing those shorts. They were orange if I recall correctly, he always had that neon orange cap too. Maybe the lighting or flash from the camera make them look more pink here.
You have a different year in mind than I did. I’m thinking that this is in the early 90’s, AFTER we moved to Oregon. Your summer with P&K was in the 80’s.
