This video is actually a movie with a script – with Herb and Mary acting out their parts. Herb is supposed to be teaching Mary how to use their new video camera.
This photo was taken from an album, and the only information we have about it is that it was taken in 1928.
We have no documented account of Herb and Mary’s courtship, but my sister Peggy and her husband Kevin remember hearing the story from our mother. Both Herb and Mary lived in Pomona. He was attending dental school at USC, and she was attending UCLA and persuing an art major. Apparently their relationship developed on the bus from Pomona to L.A.!
There is no writing on this photo, but it looks very much like it was taken on Herb and Mary’s honeymoon. It doesn’t surprise me that they were at the beach.
