This is a picture taken at our family party for Sue’s third birthday, in 1960. The location is our house on Davista. I didn’t remember this, but apparently the dining table was in the kitchen!
Sue’s picture appears in our Whittier newspaper in connection with our Alaska mission work. We children would collect Christmas gifts in the summer to send to children in Alaska, because they had no way to receive them in December.
For Sue’s fifth birthday at Annie & Grandpa’s place, Annie made a doll cake for Sue. Notice that her older brother is “helping” her blow out the candles.
In this photo Sue is in the back yard at Grandma and Grandad’s house. She looks somewhat “chunky” in this photo, but she’s not. She had a broken collarbone – my fault, we were bouncing on the bed and she fell off – and had to wear some sort of brace while it healed.
This party was also for Sue’s fifth birthday, but she got to invite friends over and have it on our screened porch. Sue is in the back, with the yellow pointy hat. Mom, Peggy and I are there to help out.
Here’s another photo from that fifth birthday party at our house. Sue is loving her cake!
Sue and Grandma enjoy each other’s company at Aunt’s house.
