This photo of Mom walking John to school on his first day of kindergarten was taken by a Whittier newspaper photographer. It was printed in the paper.

John got the biggest present under the tree at Christmas 1969. He seemed pretty happy about it.

After we moved to Philadelphia St., the four of us kids went to four different schools. I went to Whittier High, Peggy went to Dexter, Sue went to Lincoln, and John went to Hoover. Eventually all four of us graduated from Whittier High School.

For their shared birthday in 1969, Mom had a “Hawaii” theme and John had a “surfer” theme. It was John’s 7th birthday, and he got his own surfer cake.

John poses with me on stage after what I think was my last Junior Theater production. I was playing the role of George Grizzly in an adapted version of “The Three Bears.”

I don’t know how they did it, but Mom & Dad somehow managed to get a highly-posed photo of each one of us kids, at about this age, on a horse. We were not a horse-riding family, and I don’t know why we did this. Perhaps some guy with a camera and a horse was very persuasive.

This is Mom and John’s shared birthday in 1968. Not sure why, but we are all dressed up. I’m wearing a tie, Mom’s got her wig on, and Sue is in her Swedish weaving skirt that Annie made.

Here Grandpa plays shuffleboard with John. Grandpa did this with all four of us. He was so patient with us!
