Old Detroit: W, 7 – 3.  (.317, .364, .537;  13 ip, 2 er).  Francisco Liriano was the star — 6.3 scoreless innings — for the Old Toledo Ferrets, since Old Detroit management brilliantly allocated him at 0%. Liriano’s September line: 26.7 ip, 6 er, 2.03 ERA.  Put him in and take Matt Moore out (23.3 ip, 17 er) and the Wolverines would be about 1.4 games closer to first.  Hmmm — 1.4 games closer to first….

Portland:  DNP, 0 – 0. (.320, .370, .526;  12.7 ip, 3 er). Something mighty fishy here — a great day at the plate and on the mound comes out precisely where the team was yesterday?  I apparently made some mistake on the stats. But I don’t have time to fix it just now. I’ll look at it tomorrow and figure out what went wrong.

Pittsburgh: W, 7 – 3.

Canberra:  “W”, 3 – 4.

Flint Hill:  W, 11 – 4. On the verge of .500 again.  Reminds me of the Mariners, who are back to 10 games over .500, their largest margin of the season — for the fifth time going into tonight’s game.  Can either team get over it’s particular hump?

Kaline:  W, 4 – 3.

Cottage:  “L”, 3 – 1.

DC:  “L”, 4 – 3. (.207, .281, .310; 6 ip, 2 er).  The Balk are still 1.4 games ahead of the Twins.
