Mr. EFL Answer Man Gets His First VotawmaCare Question

Dear Mr. EFL Answer Man:

Can I put Fulmer and Lamet on the DL/IL?
Fulmer is out for the season, and Lamet will join the Padres active roster in June.
Dear —
VotawmaCare has this to say about your question:
Additions to the VDL
  1. must be announced before a Free Agent Draft (preseason or mid-season);
  2. take effect at the first of the month;
  3. can only include players who

(1) will have been on the non-VDL roster for at least one season segment by the time the VDL placement takes effect, and,

(2) are on an MLB DL at the start of the relevant draft.

It is too late to put someone on the VDL (informally the VotawmaCare Disabled List), for the first day                                                                                                                                                                                                                         of the March/April month (this coming Thursday) because we are after the draft. So any announcement now would apply to May.
The good news is that you didn’t just draft either of these guys, so you will not be tripped up by provision 3 (1).
And for being the first customer to ask a real life VotawmaCare question, you are eligible to receive a free VotawmaCare mug… as soon as they become available.

  • Disappointing. I forgot March is really April. I am making the VD List (at least it’s not the STD list) annoucement about Fulmer now and will wait for the late April managers meeting to announce about Lamet. Please consider putting this on the agenda as a regular item (so I don’t forget!). Thank you. KDrmudgeon.
