Her name is Susan, but we all called her “Susie” for many years.

In the 1950s both my mom’s parents and my dad’s parents began to travel. I’m glad they did, because they set a great example that I’ve always been happy to follow.

We kids always enjoyed time with grandparents, and our parents took every chance to have fun times with us too.

Tirzah and Frank (Aunt & Unc) bought their home in Whittier in 1953, but didn’t use it until 1957, after Unc died. But they visited Whittier every year.

Our grandmother, Mary Martin, used to make large papier-mache animals for decorations.

We always had a good time together.

After his graduation from USC’s dental school, Bert went to Korea with the military, soon after the war was over. His life was suddenly and tragically ended there.
