John is poised, ready for the hit in a t-ball game.

We got a pool table in our family room shortly before I left for college, so John got to spend a lot more time with it than I did.

At Karen & Dave’s wedding in December 1972, John found a friend near his own age – Leonard, Karen’s foster brother.

John loved baseball. He played on a team every year, starting as soon as he was old enough for t-ball. He was good at it, too – always one of the best on his team. That was true for every sport that he tried – he had a lot of natural athletic skills.

John contemplates his gift at Christmas 1972.

In this 1972 photo John is playing catcher. For most of his career, however, John played outfield, because he was a fast runner and had a terrific throwing arm.

Our family’s next dog after Charlie Brown was, of course, Peanuts. This dog was John’s favorite pet, and he has enjoyed having dogs ever since.
