My real post is lost

This morning as I was putting the finishing touches on this post, I made a small mistake.

I hit ctrl-Z, which is how I have been fixing small mistakes in every product I use — word processors, spreadsheets, web-design programs, etc — for 25 years. The few where it doesn’t work, it doesn’t do anything.

Except WordPress.  There it erases everything since you last saved.

Today it erased 2 hours of work.

There is a way to recover the lost work.  But it’s not ctrl-Y, which is what I hit in my panic. I spend 4 to 12 hours a day using products where ctrl-Z and ctrl-Y work to undo and re-do stuff.

Except WordPress.

When I get a chance later today, I will write to WordPress.  I have other promises to keep first.  I apologize for this post.

Old Detroit: “W”, 7 – 8. (30 AB, .269, .367, .500;  no pitching). Devers went 2 for 3 with 2 walks. My whole original post was built around this sequence of numbers:

.883, .888, .877, .841, .815, .800, .824, .786, .763, .736

Those are the Wolverine winning percentages over the last 10 days, nine of which have been spent in first place.  It was about the Second Law of Thermodynamics, private pain we never know about, and a snippet of conversation I had with Melanie while we were courting 24 years ago.

To be frank, much of it was just more Wolverine whining, probably unsuccessfully camouflaged.  No great loss.  I’m still going to write to WordPress, though.

Flint Hill: W, 8 -3. (21 PA, ..400, .429, .800; no pitching).  That’s HUGE offense for only  8 runs scored.  I assume there were replacements filling in. John Nogowski was the only one of the 6 hitters who went hitless (in one at-bat).

Haviland:  L, 2- 7. (17 PA, .188, .235, .188;  no pitching) The Dragons slipped in the race. Only Jose Iglesias (2 for 4 with a stolen base) had a good day.

Peshastin: W, 3 – (-1). (17 PA, .188, .235 .250;  17.7 ip, 8 er, 4.07 ERA.  I remember writing about the excruciation in Peardom yesterday.  Cheer the M’s win, or rue their treatment of the Pears’ Dustin May (4 er in 5 ip)?  Fear for Justus Sheffield as he faced May’s Dodger lineup?  Escaping with only 3 earned runs in 5.7 ip probably felt pretty good, except it’s still ugly when added to May’s line.  Fortunately, Jack Flaherty pitched, too, and did better than the other two.

Pittsburgh: L, 5 – 6. (13 PA, .333, .308, .417;  6.3 ip, 4 er, 5.71 ERA).  Christian Vazquez went 3 for 5. Eovaldi did all the pitching.

Canberra: DNP, (-4) – (-1). (21 PA, .053, .143, .053.  1.7 ip, 0 er, 0.00 ERA). I wrote extended comments on everyone in the original post. I had just finished with Ryan’s when I lost everything.

As I recall
it was all
’bout David Dahl,
plus Coleman’s call
“Winfield…wall…
rolling ball…”

… now lost for all eternity.

DC:  DNP, 1 – (-1). (7 AB, .429, .500, .429;  8 ip, 2 er, 2.25 ERA). Musgrove pitched well again, and Harper did ALL offense except for Gallo’s walk.  Gallo’s walk — I’ll have to remember that homonymic phrase.

Bellingham: W, 4 – 2. (26 PA, .208, .269, .292;  6 ip, 0 er, 0.00 ERA) Kevin Gausman! Plus Tim Anderson (3 for 4 with a double and 2 stolen bases).
Kaline: L, 4 – 7.

Portland: L, 7 – 9. (23 PA, .250, .348, .800;  5 ip 5 er, 9.00 ERA).  Dylan Bundy is a compassionate man. He made sure his ERA would be easy to compute.  Corey Seager homered.

Cottage: W (-1), L 1; (-1) – 0.  (33 PA, .233, .303, .333; no pitching.  Alex Verduwent 3 for 4 with a homer and a walk.  Mookie? Mookie who?
