Seraphim stave off disaster (for now)

For one brief shining moment last night while I was updating two days of EFL results, the Wolverines were in first place. I had updated Salem and Canberra, with the ‘Roos bravely (and successfully) sustaining their assault on the seraphic citadel.  The Seraphs had been brought so low they were below the Wolverines.

Except then I had to update the Wolverines who stumbled Tuesday and Wednesday. They fell back behind Salem.  Then I had to update the Balk, who did NOT stumble Tuesday and Wednesday.  That shoved the W’s all the way back to third place.

Tsk Tsk, Balk!  All that infighting among those of us chasing the Seraphim only benefitted Salem!  The rest of us need to stop hurting each other and save our energy for beating the Seraphim!

With Week 26 starting tonight, we’ll have our penultimate allocation deadline tomorrow at noon.  The Wolverines will be allocating like crazy to set themselves up to do as well against the Seraphim as the Kangaroos did in week 25.

In other news:

  • The Pears’ hold on last place is pretty solid, now protected by a 5.1 game gap in the standings.  They are only .002 percentage points from seizing the first pick in the Rookie Draft next spring. Pretty good timing, Peshastin!
  • The Cascades were just not sincere enough in their effort to finish last.  They ran an above-.500 raw winning percentage for thew eek (.509).  The Dragons still beat them 4.8 games to 1.2, thanks to Haviland’s .810 raw winning percentage for the week.
  • Outside the top four teams, no team is closer than 3.7 games to its nearest rival.  That 3.7-game gap separates the Drive from the Dragons, with the Drive sneaking up on Haviland.  The Allegheneys’ competition with Rosebuds, which was so dynamic in August, has reverted to a dull thumping being administered by the Rosebuds.
