When we kids were young we were sometimes given the opportunity to spend the night before our birthday at Grandma and Grandad’s house. Then we’d wake up on our birthday morning there and have a special birthday breakfast with Grandma and Grandad. These pictures show Peggy on her 5th birthday (1960) at our grandparents’ house.

Here is Peggy’s 1964 family birthday party. Note that John is now the occupant of the high chair. David is missing from this photo, but I don’t know why. Dick is the photographer now; for previous birthdays it had been Harold.

Here is a photo of our family celebration of Peggy’s fifth birthday, also at Grandma and Grandad’s house.

This was taken at the family party for Peggy’s sixth birthday, in 1961. Note the fancy decorations that Grandma put up for the event. She always made a big deal of our birthdays.

For her 7th birthday (1962) Annie made a ballet dancer birthday cake for Peggy. It seems to have been a hit with Peggy; I’m not sure that her siblings agree.

In her early school years Peggy was a big fan of dancing, especially ballet. She took ballet lessons and enjoyed participating in stage productions. This photo is from 1961.

Peggy used to LOVE to play dress-up. You can see several examples in the photos below on this page. This one, taken at our house on Davista in 1963, includes our neighbor Marcia Dick in the red dress on the left, and Lynda Votaw with the big hat on the right.

These are Peggy’s school portraits from the 1960s.
