Trade Bait

Are any of you journalism majors? <speaker scans vast audience> Good, I thought not. I think Barry Hubbell was the last journalism major at GF (unless something has changed since I was last there in 1999).

Honestly, journalists remind me of a pack of hungry wolves more than anything else. Give one of them a tidbit and the whole pack pounces on it. Look at this list of headlines today about my mediocre pitcher, Sonny Gray – whom I could not even trade in the EFL!

“Prediction: Astros to trade for Oakland pitcher Sonny Gray” – Austin American-Statesman

“Red Sox reportedly interested in pursuing Sonny Gray” – BoSox Injection (this one will be my next team name)

“Atlanta Braves showing interest in Athletics pitcher Sonny Gray” – Tomahawk Take

“Will Cubs Pursue Athletics’ Sonny Gray on Trade Market?” – CBS Chicago

“Blue Jays among teams to scout Sonny Gray’s last start” – Sportsnet.ca

Here’s one that strayed from the pack:

“Red Sox do not need Sonny Gray, and they know it” – Comcast SportsNet

Of course Comcast is typically clueless about what is going on. But everyone else seems to want a piece of Sonny. I hope the A’s get somebody good for him.

Which player on your team seems most likely to be traded?
