Who’s Downtrodden? Who’s Downtrodding?

My post yesterday — you know, the compassionate post for our downtrodden (or downtrodding, more like) Alleghenys — has had 18 views as of this morning. More than half of those were by someone other than me. That means it was a popular post, with its empathy and raw BP estimates of how the first week in August has gone for us.

So I thought I’d update those raw estimates this morning. The fact that the Wolverines had a great day yesterday is mere coincidence.

Haviland:  200 PA, .236, .320, .461; 61.0  ip, 12 er, 1.77 era.  Est; W 4, L 2

Old Detroit; 229 PA, .296, .374, .522; 45.3 ip, 15 er, 2.98 ERA.  Est.  W 4, L 2.

DC: 165 PA, .338, .380, .591 (+ reps) ; 32 ip, 6 er, 1.69 (+ reps).  Est W 4, L 2. (The Balk added 1 ip and 3 er yesterday — and at least 6 replacement innings, so they may have suffered a negative win/2 loss day, which would put them at 3 – 3 for August.)

Cottage: 293 PA, .260, .348, .446; 53.7 ip, 24 er , 4.02 ERA.  Est W 3.5, L 2.5. (21 innings Sunday, even though they came with 10 earned runs, eliminated any replacements.)

Portland: 317  PA, .230, .321, .421; 56.3 IP, 28 ER, 4.47 ERA.  Est. W 3 L 3.

Flint Hill:  292  PA,  .207, .276, .316; 63.7 ip, 19 er, 2.69 ERA.  Est. W 2.5,  L 3.5. (I am putting the Tornadoes just above the Alleghenys because the T’s have more flexibility to exclude their weakest hitters from action.)

Pittsburgh:  259 PA, .226, .297, .396; 61.3 ip, 28 er, 4.11 ERA. Est. W 2.5, L 3.5. (The Alleghenys OPSed 1.127 as a team Sunday, and got 6 scoreless innings from their relievers — it’s possible they could be better than 2.5 wins in August)

Kaline: 285 PA, .243, .285, .388; 44.7 ip, 26 er, 4.28.  Est.  W 2.5, L 3.5

Peshastin: 213 PA, .260, .333, .536; 42 ip, 25 er, 5.36 ERA (+ reps).  Est: W 2.5, L  3.5.

Canberra: 242 PA, 284,  .332, .498;  40.3 ip, 31 er, 6.92 ERA.  Est W 2, L 4.

Top August Hitters

Canberra: Tim Beckham:  24 AB, 14 h, 3 2b, 1 3b, 3 hr, 1 bb, .583, .600, 1.167. (I think I did Saturday’s draft wrong.)

Old Detroit:  Willson Contreras:  22 AB, 10 h, 1 2b, 5 hr, 1 bb, .455, .478, 1.182.

Portland: Paul Goldschmidt:  23 AB, 10 h, 1 2b, 1 3b, 3 hr, 1 bb, .435, .462, .957. (Second best?  Manny Machado: 1.138 OPS in August.  I think I did my August 1 fire sale to the Rosebuds wrong.)

Peshastin: Joey Gallo:  21 AB, 7 h, 5 hr, 1 bb, .333, .391, 1.048.

Flint Hill: Daniel Murphy: 15 AB, 7 h, 2 2b, 2 hr, 1 bb, .467, .500, 1.000.

Top August Pitchers

Haviland:  Yu Darvish: 7 ip, 0 er. (I am pretty sure I did Saturday’s draft wrong.)

DC: Jeremy Hellickson: 7 ip, 0 er. (I think I did last winter’s Rule 5 draft wrong.)

Kaline: Jhoulys Chacin: 7 ip, 0 er.

Pittsburgh: Cory Kluber: 9 ip, 1 er.  (I think I did my July 1 fire sale to the Pears wrong.)

Old Detroit:  Clayton “Mirage” Richard: 6 ip, 0 er (The mirage part is because he surrendered 4 unearned runs, but who cares about that?)

Flint Hill: Dinelson Lamet: 5.7 ip, 0 er. (Oh, so that’s why he traded for Lamet.)

Portland: Jimmy Nelson: 14 ip, 3 er.

Peshastin:  Danny Salazar:  7 ip, 1 er. (NOT fellow Indian Carlos Carrasco: 7.3 ip, 10 er!)

Canberra:  Dellin Betances: 3 ip, 0 er.  (Kangaroo starters in August range from 4.50 ERA to 13.50. It’s not pretty.)
