League Updates Uncategorized

The Commissioner confers, converses, and otherwise hobnobs with his fellow elites.

(I thought I had published this Friday afternoon.  I must have closed my computer before it finished publishing. My apologies.)

Here is some correspondence I had today:

Friends :

For the second time in a week, the team tracker isn’t updated and it’s getting late in the afternoon.

Is this related to Hurricane Florence?  In which case, blessings on you, carry on with what’s important.

If it’s not hurricane related, then still blessings on you, I just wanted you to know that the delay is noticed and there are people eagerly awaiting the daily update.

Thanks for your normally super-reliable service.

Hi Ron,

Thanks for reading Baseball Prospectus and for using Team Tracker.
I’m a diehard user of Team Tracker myself, and it’s annoying when it’s not up soon, to say the least! The earlier time this week was a BP problem, for which I’m at least responsible for not repairing the situation sooner. Today, it was all about our feed arriving ~6 hours late with no explanation. I believe this is the first time in at least 2 years (probably more) that the entire feed has failed. But the script is working on Team Tracker processing now, and should finish within the hour. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Regards,
-Rob

Thank you very much for both the response and the update!  I wonder if your feed from MLB was late due to the hurricane.  The Team Tracker is a gem, but it’s not cosmic, and I think most of us will understand if things don’t work as usual during a storm.
Anyway — off to “enjoy” perusing the fate of my fading fantasy team. I don’t suppose there’s anything you can do about that… is there? 🙂

Judging by the standings below: no, there wasn’t anything he could do about my fading team.  Oh, well.

Portland: W 2, L 0; 10 – 9.  (39 PA, .194, .256, .306; 1 ip,. 0 er, 0.00 ERA).  The good news (for Rosebud fans) is this: Portland gained another 0.2 games against those wascally Wolverines.  The bad news is Portland has already cashed in one of its two extra games-to-play, and 0.2 games isn’t much to get for it. But it probably won’t matter.
.
Old Detroit: “L”, 5 – 4. (28 PA, .231, .286, .462; no pitching).
Brookland: W 1, L 2; 18 – 20. (30 PA, .370, .400, .667; no pitching)
Canberra: DNP, 0 – (-1). (16 PA, .188, .188, .438; 7.7 ip. 3 er, 3.52 ERA).
Pittsburgh:  DNP, 2 – 0. (25 PA, .261, .320, .565; no pitching).
Flint Hill: W, 10 – 4.  (28 PA, .333, .429, .458; 4.7 ip, 1 er, 1.93 ERA).

Cottage: W 0, L 3; 10 – 25.  (10 PA, .222,.300, .222; no pitching) Yikes!  One of the most dismal daily results you’ll ever see: no wins, three losses.
Kaline: W 2, L (-1); 4 – 0. (24 PA, .350, .458, .700 , no pitching.)

  • Dismal is right. I knew September was going to go this way for the Cheese when I saw the news, each day for about a week, of yet another Cheese being shut down for the season. And MLB teams are not bringing up minor leaguers in Sept like they should (and used to).
