It’s interesting to see the things Dad took to college. First of all there’s the wavy hair with the part in the center. We kids never saw that! Then there’s the bowling ball (in the bag by his left foot) and the tennis racket – representing two sports that Dad always enjoyed playing.
The two small cases on the porch steps are a bit of a mystery. I think one of them must be a typewriter, and maybe the other one is a portable radio or some other technical thing.
The house is worth an extra look as well. Greek columns, front entry windows and an arched transom over the doorway, along with the brick porch, tell me that this was a pretty fancy house.
Dad started college at Fullerton Jr College. I think he did part of a year at Whittier College after Fullerton, but then transferred over to the new Claremont Men’s College where he was a member of the first graduating class in 1951.
