Aunt & Unc Wedding Anniversary

Best guess: their 40th anniversary, in 1953

I love this photo: my parents look amazingly young, and the event was obviously special. The photo’s not labelled, so we have to figure out what is happening. The best clue on this picture is the corsage that Aunt is wearing. Unc is wearing a badge or something, and they’re standing in the center of the group. So this picture is about them. The good silver tea set is in use, and the crystal goblets, and there’s a white cake – perhaps a wedding anniversary.

Aunt & Unc were married in 1913, so this might be their 40thwedding anniversary. That would be worth a trip from Indiana (where they lived) to California (where my parents and grandparents lived). But that would make it 1953, and I was born in 1952. So why am I not in the picture? Perhaps it was after my bedtime.
