Incomplete update(s)

I wrote a very brief update Wednesday night to cap off Week 12 and set up week 13, but it appears OI never posted it.  Here are the standings from the end of Week 12, too late to do you any good. I apologize for that.

Notes:

A.  If it’s any consolation, I got no benefit from knowing the standings as of Wednesday midnight because I failed to update my allocations.  I should have — word broke Thursday afternoon that Ke’Bryan Hayes had injured himself in that day’s game.  I have three other uninjured third basemen (Devers, Riley, Edman) who will all be doing other things while 3b goes unattended (except by replacements) this week.

B.  The main reason I am behind in updates is Melanie and I are in Seattle visiting my daughter and her family.  I got week 13 set up last night and this morning, and in-put two teams’ Thur/Fri results (DC and Pittsburgh) before events in this house drew me away. Now we have two MLB games finished in Saturday, whose stats are already up on Baseball Prospectus.  Given the pace of family plans today I will have to try again on updating this evening after everyone else goes to bed.   Look for the first three games’ results in Week 13 late tonight or tomorrow morning.

I’ll address the June/July meeting time in my next note to you.

If you want to see Week 13 results, I have put in two teams’ stats (DC and Pittsburgh) for games Thursday and Friday. The rest of us are still showing the “#DIV/0!” message since I haven’t updated anything for them yet in Week 13.  I will do that after today’s games are done.

  1.  Shohei Ohtani pitched 8 innings tonight. He allowed 2 hits and a walk, 0 runs, to the Royals.  The Royals allowed Shohei Ohtani two walks and a hit.  Ohtani’s ERA is 2.90 on the season, but 0.00 this week. His runs created this week is 6.0 — he had a tough week, except for Tuesday evening when he hit two homers and drove in 8 of the Angels’ 11 runs in their 12 – 11 loss to the Royals.  At least the Seraphim are giving him a chance to experience a pennant race, and maybe right now be the favorites to WIN that race.  That’s more than the Angels have done with Ohtani or Trout.  Good for the Archangel.
  2. I am getting kind of desperate to see Ohtani pitch this season.
  3. The Dragons got 4 innings, 1 earned run from Mike Clevinger, and 7 innings, 0 earned runs from Pablo Lopez.  But Tarik Skubal is struggling all of a sudden. He lasted 4.7 innings this evening before they yanked him for giving up 6 earned runs.
  4. The top four teams are separated by only .007 in raw winning percentage.  When Wednesday started, they also were all being disadvantaged by our head-to-head format.  The Balk actually shed that disadvantage when the Tigers went down to defeat Wednesday evening, 6 – 2.  The other three are still taking losses from their MLB opponents:  Salem: 0.019; Old Detroit: 0.035; Haviland: 0.053.  Only the Rosebuds (0.059) have a worse disadvantage.
  5. The league as a whole is breaking even on its MLB opposition.  Our raw winning percentage matches our adjusted winning percentage.
