The Overlooked EFL?!!?

This morning, after watching Vlad Guerrero, Jr., Joc Pederson, and Pete Alonso hit HR after HR last night, I was perusing the baseball web and found an article about one of my favorite players. It is titled, The Great Young Season No One is Noticing. It’s a good article documenting the great offensive season Rafael Devers of the Red Sox (I forget which EFL team he is on…) is having. It is truly a remarkable season thus far! Here is his offensive line:

.324 .377 .546 .923

Did I mention he is 22 years old? We get all kinds of articles, YouTube clips, and MLB money put behind the likes of Vladito, Acuña, etc. – but very little about Devers. I seem to remember one of Ron’s frequent tropes is that the EFL is overlooked, and though I have perhaps wondered if he just feels like HE is being overlooked, he might actually be on to something.

I offer as proof this evidence – on July 8th I wrote the following (certain names have been redacted to help with humility):

“Devers is absolutely crushing the ball this year. He leads (redacted) in AVG (.324), OBP (.377), hits (112) and if there wasn’t a player named Josh Bell on the team Devers would lead every offensive category. How was he not chosen as an All Star? I have no idea.”

Overlooked, Rob Silver?!?! How do I know you didn’t steal your idea for an article directly from my post? (Editor’s note: This has actually happened to me before. I once submitted a post to a site that notices the humor in Christian culture, and two days later the owner of the site posted an article that was clearly inspired by my submission. Of course, it had his name as the author without so much as a whisper of credit to yours truly).

Maybe Ron is right, and the rest of the world just doesn’t take us seriously, even though we are so serious about this little league of ours. Oh well, the loss is theirs!

PS: You’ve got a couple of days to determine if there were TOASTs you wanted to recognize that I overlooked – so let us all know. It’s always fun for me to see who you see as your favorite players on your team.
