League Updates

Instructions for the week-“end”

Friends:

I have updated the standings for today, April 13 — you can see them in the Weekly Update spreadsheet, at this link.

I am next going to give you access to today’s version of your team spreadsheet.  It will have a filename that ends in “v2w1” meaning it’s version 2 of the file (the one incorporating all the corrections I made earlier this week) and records week 1 results.

Tonight I’ll bring every team’s sheet (and my copy of it) up to date with tonight’s game results, and will store my copy in a separate sub-folder, the first of 27 weekly folders we’ll accumulate this season. I’ll update your v2w1 file (which will overwrite any changes you’ve entered there).  That will close the books on this week.

By the way: BP is updating its stats right after the games finish now, so I can get this done tonight. This is a big help for our short turn-around time at each week’s end.

By noon Thursday you are tasked to inform me of allocation changes.  The rule we agreed to allows for 5 changes per week.  This was based on the expectation that I’d have to hand enter all the changes.  You have a much more efficient alternative available to you: just enter the changes in your allocations on a copy of your team spreadsheet, rename it so its name ends in “v2w2” and give me permission to read it (use the “Share” button in the top right corner of the screen). I can implement the changes with a cut-and-paste… as long as you don’t make any errors.  Until we are sure everyone can use this method, the limit to 5 moves per week still applies.  (If you want, you can also submit a transaction asking me to make the changes.)

You can send me allocation changes any time during the week up to the noon Thursday deadline, but I will only implement them after I close the books on this week. So if you send me changes, and then send me a new version of the changes, be VERY clear to label which one is the true version.

Final note: I have asked John to double check whether I have implemented the formula correctly for calculating our wins/losses from our rs/ra and the other team’s rs/ra.  If he thinks the formula needs tweaking, I will tweak it.  If his advice comes after tomorrow morning we’ll discuss as a league whether to make it retroactive to Week 1.
