Seraphim Fall (just a teensy bit, but it made all the difference) — and We Have a Decision

It gets tiresome to be treated by our MLB colleagues like we hardly exist. So I did something about it, guaranteed to get us the amount of attention we deserve (if not necessarily of the quality we’d like):  I overturned an announced race outcome.

Eat your heart out, Donald!

Somehow when I opened the Weekly Outcomes sheet today it showed the Seraphim 0.05 games BEHIND the Balk instead of 0.07 games ahead, as published the Monday.  I had not altered any stats.  I had not accidentally deleted or added anything.  I didn’t change the formulae.

The only thing I can think of that I changed — at Dave’s request — is the misalignment of defensive ratings for Pedro Severino and Abraham Toro.  Toro had Pedro’s catcher rating, and Pedro had Toro’s 1b, 2b, and 3b ratings.  So I put them back where they belonged. (I told Dave they were already right, but they weren’t.)

Apparently, Toro moving into infield positions, with his sad offensive numbers last week, cut into the playing time of better infielder hitters in a way he wasn’t doing to the Seraphim’s catchers. It was enough to cost the Seraphim most of a run scored for the week, and a little over 0.1 games in the standings. That thrust the Balk into the first seed for the pennant stretch.

Ooo! Just think how motivated the Seraphim are going to be, now that the EFL front office has revoked their 1st place seed. I’m not sure I want to be in the Balk’s shoes.

Here’s the decision:  We’re all going t play the Pirates.

Here’s the schedule for the rest of the season:
